Where Blogger Create 2012

A big thanks to Karen Valentine at My Desert Cottage for hosting Where Bloggers Create 2012.

I have met and connected with many new blog friends and I am still only on the M's.  If you wish to see many wonderful and neat creative spaces, check out her blog.

My Creative Space ahead.

Yay! I finally arrived.  It's been a ride alright to get here.  I wanted to present to you  a nice and clean studio and I got over my head, lol.  Don't we all get a little neurotic when we know company is coming?  My office / studio is not always this clean - I had a 10 and a 13 year old nephews help me.  At the end I will show you pictures of odds and ends I didn't have space for...maybe you can offer me some storage suggestions.

My studio doesn't have a door.  I have curtains to close myself off, if need be.
This is the view as you enter from the foyer.  It has changed quite a bit from the last party.  I used to have a large door that my husband converted into a table with a glass top / storage.  It was convenient for storage by not very feasible to work on with the glass top.  I relegated it to the backyard.

Another view from the entry way.  I purchased the table Ikea.  Very cheap and it has a nice work surface.  Not that I've done much in the last few months.  I'v been out of commission due to some health issues but have bounced back - thank God!  Really, all that I have done is visited blogs for the last few months and recently I've gotten the creative bug back, somewhat.

Another view.  See that chair? It's an office chair that I kinda covered.

I use an old dresser for storage to hold jars, containers and plates that I have repurposed - yard sale and thrifting finds.  Did your hydrangeas give you good blooms?  Mine did not- most only gave me a few blooms and my favorite only gave me one - see the pink one there - that's it!

See that tiered plates on the left?  Those are plates that I epoxied together.
I took the handles off the top two drawers and replaced them with tassels, decoupaged with  gift wrapping paper.  Oh, and see the edge of the mustard and beige doily there at the top of the pic?  My mom made that. The women in my family crocheted, sewed, cross stitched and knitted.  I have many of the crocheted heirlooms and I put them to good use throughout my studio and house.

Here's a view of how I use the drawers.

This little station holds my moms sewing box which I have repurposed to store my receipts and invoices.

Inside are odds and ends but on the top shelf is some of my stash of crocheted goodies.

More storage.  I label my boxes so that I know what I have inside.  I hang my chain from a piece of painted board with hooks.

 I LOVE angels, do you?

More storage ideas.

This bookcase is topped with a crotched white table runner my aunt gave me.  She still lives in Mexico and is one of our last few living relatives.

Homage to Madrina Teresa.   The  holy card in the shell frame is a funeral memento I've had since her death in 1992 and it's of Saint Therese of Lisieux- her favorite saint.  And theres the baby Jesus I also inherited from her. He's moved in to my studio.

And this beautiful lady here is my (godmother)  Madrina Teresa - she was also my aunt, who I credit for guiding me in the right path, as she introduced me to crafting at a very young age.  I need to have her photo cleaned up.  I'll have to have someone do it for me though.

More stuff...

Inside the hutch.

Inspirational board.

And this is where I sit to visit your blogs.

What can I do with this mess of wires?

In need of a home.

More stuff.

?????????

Told you I had more junk.  I threw this in a spare bedroom.

Join the fun over at Karen's Where Blogger Create 2012 and visit all the bloggers.

Thanks Karen for hosting!

I love crochet so much, I have a doily on my flat screen television set. I crochet all the time... they are definitely pieces to keep and hand down from generation to generation.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful studio space, I'm so happy I stopped by. Feel free to visit me if you wish...

What a wonderful space you have!!! Everything is so nice and organized. You know what I do with leftover stuff when I am getting ready for company- stuff it in the closet! sorry that's probably not much help at all!! How about making a skirt to hide the cords at your desk. I have something similar that I showed how to make a skirted table on my blog- you could also store some of that leftover stuff under there maybe.

Hope you might come by and see my new space!

Hey Neighbor :-P I love your studio space... it looks so nice! I had the same problem with wires under my desk, I just made a black "curtain" and used a tension rod and hung it to hide the wires. Easy-peasy :-) big hugs~

You have a lovely space to create in. It looks so bright and homey. I love that tiered plate display! And the doilies... I crochet a little but I've yet to make one doily. I saw some pretty milk glass pieces too, I'm partial to those :-)
If you shoot me an email I can talk to you about trying to repair your aunt's photo. I have done a few of my own and I did one of my mom and dad and it turned out pretty good. If you're interested you could just send a high resolution scan and I'll do my best :-)
Off to be a follower of your new blog.
Thanks for stopping by to see me. Nite, Lisa

What a wonderful space! So many adorable pretties to look at!!Thank you for mentioning that you epoxied those plates together - I have been looking for a three tier but never found one I liked! Now I have hope!

Jenny...
I love your space...why? Because you've filled it with YOU and the things that are obviously so important to you...your faith and loved ones who have touched your heart. I can't think of any better inspiration! You certainly seem to have a good handle on organizing too. As for your mass of wires...hmmmm...you know you can purchase "tube" thingees that kind of group them together and then you'd only see ONE fat tube sliding back there. They're slit along the side so you can simply slip them over the cords. OR do as I did...work with two separate outlets and get some little clippie tie thingees from the Container Store that group like cords together. Of course you'd want to label what each cord is first!
just me...sendin' BIG snaps from Texas...jan

I zeroed in on all those pearls you have as I am such a "pearl girl"! Kindred spirits! And the tiered plates to hold bits and pieces... very clever use of them! The photo of your godmother is so very precious! I love the way you honor those who helped make you who you are! Even displaying the crocheted pieces from your mother and her sewing basket. Thanks for sharing!

Well, you pulled it off, everything looks so organized.
I love your collection of glitter.
I am inspired by your board next to your inspiration board. I love how you outlined the board with flowers.
I, too have a collection of items I am not sure what to do with, sorry I can't be of any help with that.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful space with us.

Beautiful space! Looks like once you are feeling 100% you will be creating up a storm! Will be back to see all your goodies. I wish I had ideas for your overflow - because I could use it myself.... right now everything is hiding behind yellow doors (which I did not open for the hop!)

Take care and will be back soon!

Great room, Jenny! I love how you've got it set up, too. Love your storage pieces. I could have a ball just going through what's on top of and in that dresser! It's so pretty and functional. I'm glad you've got the creative bug back; this room probably misses you! Thanks for sharing your tour!

We have the same loves and aesthetic, so obviously I love your room! I think you did a wonderful job of organizing. I really enjoyed all the lovely religious statues, saint cards, etc. . . I have some of my religious items out, but you inspired me to put more into my space!

Thank you so much for sharing your space. I hope you continue to feel better and up to creating.
