Happy New Year

Happy 2013

Can you believe it?  Another year gone!  I don't know about you but I feel that 2012 flew by and it seems that as I get older the time passes faster. Needless to say all that I planned for 2012 was not accomplished and some things got done but others fell by the wayside. To tell you the truth though, I don't feel bad about that.  I have stopped pressuring myself to do or make things for this person or that someone and to finish such and such by this deadline (unless it's for my full-time job of course). 

Reality set in for me this last year when I faced a serious condition which required major surgery.  Nothing like a good reality check to get your focus in perspective.  So I will continue trekking along with many plans in mind but will give myself permission to stop and reevaluate my priorities.

Just A Little Update

 Hello my friends.  Just a little peek at a bit of my Christmas decorations.  Gosh, I really hope to finish this weekend.  For some reason I don't feel like overdoing or overloading my house with "stuff".  We'll see what I end up with. 

 Vintage music paper tree and German glass glitter.  These are the first ones I made and they were so much fun to make.

 I originally wanted to have Jesus, Mary and Joseph as my center piece but I couldn't find a cloche wide or tall enough.

 

I bought these little trees and put them on my milk glass cups.  The doilies underneath were from my mom.

 And I planted my paperwhites too late cause they are barely this tall.  O well, such is life.

Twelve Mornings With Mary - Final Morning

My dear friends, I have enjoyed each and every day I have been blessed to have been a part of your mornings with Mary...thank you.  This is our final post but I hope that we stay connected as sisters in Christ and lovers of Mary, Our Blessed Mother.  

I am sharing this image of Our Lady of Guadalupe painted on wood.  It was a gift from my last living aunt, who still lives in Mexico.  She is my fathers cousin and we all love her dearly.  She sent all of us girls (I have 5 sisters), one each and they are just beautiful.  As you can see from the size of the 9 foot Christmas tree that I used to prop her up for pictures, that she is quite large.

She permanently reside in our breakfasts nook and radiantly looks at us as we have our meals.  

This 12 day journey was a retreat for me.  It was about faith, religion, meditation, prayer, acceptance, and unconditional love.  And so I end with a very familiar prayer...the Hail Mary.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe?   Where's Saint Juan Diego?

Will you be doing anything in preparation for Our Lady's feast day on December 12th?  People across Mexico have been in a celebration and will culminate with a grand  procession to the local parish to honor the Virgin with "mañanitas" at dawn.  I've had the privilege of participating in celebrations, especially as a child.
